Canada Day In The Nation’s Capital

My family loves the military drills and the changing of the guard events. The cultural displays and performers are always appreciated and enjoyed as a part of our family traditions and we can’t forget wrapping up the day with the glorious fireworks displays. In between these events there is always a lot of walking and visiting with friends too. Trust me when I tell you Canada Day in the Nation’s Capital can be quite the affair. With so much going on, these Canada Day cupcakes are just what is needed.

Fancy Canada Day Cupcakes

These look quite fancy; swirls of colour and an awesome topper totally make this treat stand out from the crowd. They are perfect for such a time of celebration and community. After so much action, these glorious cupcakes make for an epic dessert or just a sweet way to say Happy Canada Day to your neighbours and friends. You can use a homemade cake recipe, which is provided below, or use a white cake mix.

Easy Red and White Frosting Swirl

The swirls of colour in this recipe should not intimidate you. It is so easy to create this effect with some food colouring, layering the batter and giving it a gentle swirl. While this is a little more work than just spooning in batter, it is really worth the few moments of extra effort it takes.
