This recipe is low carb, sugar free, and a Trim Healthy Mama Fuel Pull or S Fuel.

As a follow up to my post last week about how to make cold brew coffee, I decided to give you a recipe for a make-at-home frappuccino!

Now, to be honest with you, I am not much for sweet coffee drinks. But my husband, on the other hand, absolutely loves them!

For me, I prefer my coffee unsweetened, and hot, with a splash of half and half.

(Or on a hot summer day, I do like an iced coffee - but still unsweetened!)

I’ve heard it said that when people say “It’s too hot to drink coffee” you shouldn’t trust them. Ha! I suppose that phrase was coined by a coffee-aholic!

However, I’m one of those people who still enjoy drinking hot coffee all through the summer.

But I know there are a LOT of people (my readers included) who love Starbucks style Frappuccinos and all manner of sweet and frothy coffee drinks.

So for you, I have created this homemade frappuccino, so you can enjoy it at home whenever you like!

As a bonus, it does not cost much, is relatively low in calories (only 124 calories), and for Trim Healthy Mamas, it can be made as a Fuel Pull or as an S Fuel!

This particular recipe is for a Mocha Frappuccino, and I happen to think it tastes pretty great (even though I don’t love sweet coffee)!

Sugar Free Frappuccino

A Grande Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino weighs in at 54 grams of sugar! That is pretty hefty for a drink. My Frappuccino recipe has 0 grams of sugar, but still tastes great!

(And it won’t leave you with a sugar crash after you drink it!)

Two ways to make this low carb frappuccino recipe

There are two different ways to make this recipe.

If you have the Trim Healthy Mama Chocolate Pristine Whey, you can use a scoop of that, and reduce the amounts of cocoa powder and Gentle Sweet. (I actually think I prefer the flavor of this variation. See the variation in the recipe card below.)

But I know not everyone has the protein powder (or has money in the budget to purchase it), so I wanted to provide a budget friendly way to make it as well.

Another thing, you may notice that when you blend the frappuccino, there is a good bit of froth on the top. I generally do not worry about it - I just pour it into my glass and drink up. But you could skim the froth off the top if you don’t care for it.

My Vitamix Blender does such an excellent job of blending the ice into my drink, that it almost turns out like a sweet, rich iced mocha!

If Mocha is not your flavor, feel free to omit the cocoa powder and add extracts (caramel, coconut, whatever flavor you like).

For Trim Healthy Mamas this recipe can be either a FP or an S. If you leave off the whipped cream, this can be a Fuel Pull. You wouldn’t want to add any more fat to it though, since it has 5 grams and is at the top of the FP limits.

Adding the whipped cream makes this a delicious and decadent S Fuel!

Powdered MCT Oil

In addition, I recently became aware of powdered MCT powder. I never even knew there was such a thing! I recently tried some powdered MCT powder in my hot coffee and it was great!

The Powdered Chocolate MCT would be a great addition to this icy coffee drink, but it would also make it an S fuel because of the added fat.

I topped mine off by adding some homemade sugar free chocolate syrup. (Instructions for making the syrup are below.)

How to make a Low Carb Frappuccino Recipe

12 Ounces Strong Brewed Coffee (my Cold Brew Coffee would be great!)

3 ½ Tablespoons of Gentle Sweet (or my Low Carb Powdered Sugar)

2 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder

1 Tablespoon Collagen Powder

2 Tablespoons Half and Half

20 Ice Cubes (about two cups of ice)

Course: Drinks

Cuisine: American

Prep Time: 5 minutes minutes

Total Time: 5 minutes minutes

Servings: 1 Serving

Calories: 124kcal

Ingredients

  • 12 Ounces Strong Brewed Coffee (my Cold Brew Coffee would be great!)
  • 3 ½ Tablespoons Gentle Sweet (or my Low Carb Powdered Sugar)
  • 2 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Collagen Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Half and Half
  • 20 Ice Cubes about two cups of ice

Chocolate Syrup

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients toa blender and blend well until ice is completely blended.

For the syrup

  • In a small saucepan, combine all syrup ingredients and heat until Gentle Sweet and cocoa powder melt and you have a chocolate syrup.

  • Remove from heat, and let stand for 20-30 minutes. Syrup will thicken as it stands. Drizzle over frappuccino if desired. Leftover syrup should be refrigerated, and will make several servings.

Notes

Top with homemade whipped cream, if desired! (Whipped cream is not included in the nutritional information.)

If you want to use the Protein Powder, use 1 full scoop, then only add 1 Tablespoon of Cocoa Powder and 1-2 Tablespoons of Gentle Sweet. (This would still be a FP, if you do not use whipped cream.)

If you add the MCT Powder, this would be an S fuel and the nutritional information would change.

If you do not have Gentle Sweet, you can use my Low Carb Powdered Sugarin equal amounts.

You can also use Pyure, but half the amount.

I have a vat of your cold brew 'in process' so I can make ice cubes from some of it. Can't wait til my MCT powder arrives!!

Amazing! This recipe was a great starter for my perfect mocha frappacino. Last time I had some leftover coffee, I froze it as ice cubes. So to make up for less liquid I added about a cup of almond milk. It was more runny, but the flavor was great! Enjoying it now! I am blessed to live in these days when other cooks are testing healthy foods and I can benefit from their expertise. Thank you! 😊

Can I use stevia instead of gentle sweet?

    • Sarah Hardy

Absolutely! You can use your favorite sweetener in place of the Gentle Sweet - amounts may need to be adjusted, of course.

I really want to try this as hot as I don’t do well with COLD beverages. What adjustments do I need to do?
